Things did not go swimmingly for an Australian man who downed two lobsters and 17 shots of vodka before trying to dine and dash -- by jumping into the ocean right outside the restaurant.
The 33-year-old, whose name was not released, spent a good chunk of the evening at the Surfers Paradise eatery on the so-called Gold Coast, plowing through the lobsters, a batch of oysters and the bellyful of vodka before swiping a six-pack of beer and heading for the water. Lifeguards initially towed officers into the ocean on a boat to try to talk to the uncooperative drunk, but they ultimately needed to get on jet skis in order to haul him in.
He's charged with one count of theft and two counts of assaulting police officers. (Stuff)
