In just four months, a 12-year-old from Texas has raised $2,000 and donated almost 1,500 socks to help the homeless.
Earlier this year, Emily West realized that little things like socks can make a difference in people’s lives, so she made it her mission to collect and donate new socks to those in need.
Emily established her own non-profit organization, partnered with an existing group and raised the money to help others.
Originally, she set a goal of a 1,000 socks – which she met. Now, she wants to keep going and is considering stretching the goal to a million socks, but admits that’s a “big jump.” (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
