Around 6 pm on July 3rd, authorities in Franklin County say a man was attacked at the Redding Campground, next to the Mulberry River, by a man with a machete.
A couple from Clarksville say the were just finishing up their Kayaking trip when a couple in a canoe asked them to call 911. The male victim had been cut severely on the arm and head. Both victims said that "there was an older man camping with a large white dog and they stopped to talk to him and he tried to hack them with a machete." The victims also stated that the man tried to "kidnap the girl."
The suspect has not been located and is considered to be armed and dangerous. He is described as a white male in this mid-50's with a gray beard. He is driving a newer model light colored Ford truck. He may have a black and white dog with him.
The sheriff's office also warns anyone in the Redding Campground area to keep doors locked and to report anything suspicious.
