A 93-year-old World War II veteran spent Veterans Day different than any other in his life – as he was recently elected mayor of his town.
Last week, that veteran, Vito Perillo, was elected mayor of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, winning 53% of the vote. Amazingly, it’s the first time Vito has held an elected office in his life.
Vito, who served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1947, ran his campaign calling for lower taxes and more honesty – and ended up winning with 53% of the vote.
A resident of Tinton Falls for more than 50 years, Vito is happy the campaign is over and plans to begin his term in office by setting a reasonable budget for the next year. (ABC News)
