With it being #GivingTuesday and #NationalAdoptionMonth, I can't think of a better way to give than to give a child a home. This isn't a possibility for all, but there are so many different ways to help waiting children in Arkansas. Here are a few organizations that support foster children in our state.
1. The CALL
A Christian non-profit in close collaboration with the Arkansas DHS Division of Children and Family Services focused on recruiting, training and equipping churches to support the needed Christian foster and adoptive families for the children in foster care in Arkansas.
2. Project Zero
Raising awareness about adoption, through foster care, with the ultimate goal: Finding a forever family for every child that is waiting.
3. Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services
Support by attending this event on Friday, November 30th.
Immerse transforms youth from crisis into “overcomers” through direct youth programs combined with support for families who foster or adopt. These youth include those who have aged out of foster care, victims of trafficking, runaways, and homeless youth. Your support helps youth deal with past trauma so they can thrive in a family and on their own as an adult. Core supports for youth include coaching, mentoring, connection to trauma-informed therapy, a drop-in center, supportive housing, relationship building events, and life skill training. Core supports for families include training events, retreats and counseling.
5. THV11's A Place to Call Home
THV11's Dawn Scott highlights different children in foster care by telling their stories. Watch as Dawn gives a look into their lives and what these children are hopeful for in a waiting family. Maybe you'll be touched to give to these organizations or, maybe even, your home.
