Bo Dalton shared on the radio that there are three things we should stop saying at work.
At work, there are a few phrases that your coworkers probably find annoying. According to a new survey, THANKS IN ADVANCE, AT THE END OF THE DAY…, and IT IS WHAT IT IS rank high on the list.
Linguists say that you should avoid saying these phrases if you want to keep your coworkers happy. THANKS IN ADVANCE sounds like you're expecting something from them, AT THE END OF THE DAY… implies that they're not doing their job well, and IT IS WHAT IT IS is just a way of avoiding the issue.
There are plenty of other things you can say to your coworkers instead. Try being more specific with your thanks, thanking them for their help right away, or simply express yourself in a more positive way.
