A classic American car discovered south of the border
The car driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 movie, "Bullitt" may have been found. The '68 Mustang G-T – one of two used in the film – reportedly disappeared after the filming was done and it's been thought lost forever. Paramount body man Ralph Garcia Jr. says an associate in Baja, California found the car last year.
He thought it would be a good one for Garcia to work on, since he makes replicas of the "Eleanor" Mustang from "Gone in 60 Seconds." A fast Google-check of the car's VIN number halted those plans when it matched the car from "Bullitt."
A Ford expert has said it's authentic. Garcia says he'll do a complete restoration, using information from experts at Ford.
