NO WAY Headline of The Day: A special seat for the upcoming eclipse

A very select group is being invited to take in a special view of the upcoming eclipse, but you could win a seat, too!

Some lucky astronomy buffs will get the best seat in the house for the upcoming solar eclipse. As we recently told you, a total solar eclipse will be visible in the U.S. from Oregon to South Carolina on August 21st. The rare phenomenon – a coast-to-coast event dubbed "The Great American Eclipse" – hasn't been seen in the U.S. since 1918.

But one group of astronomers will get to see this once-in-a-lifetime event from 35-thousand-feet up, aboard a chartered airliner. Alaska Airlines is offering the flight for no more than a hundred astronomers and their guests. The flight is by special invitation only, but Alaska Airlines says it's giving away two seats as part of a marketing promotion on social media.

A spokesman for the airline says each passenger will get an "optimal viewing experience" of the total solar eclipse. The promotion for the free seats begins July 21st via Alaska Airlines’ social media channels.
