The common sense closet purge and how to do it!

Separate out the clothes you’re on the fence about getting rid of and see if you ever miss them.

We all have some clothes that we keep around in case we need them for a costume party, or we actually lose those 15 pounds we’ve been meaning to get around to. But having a closet full of stuff you can’t wear doesn’t help you get dressed and those threads take up valuable real estate in your wardrobe.

And as much as we know we should part ways with some of the clothes we’re holding on to, it’s not always that easy. But here’s a little tip that can help my fellow borderline hoarders get rid of the things we’ll probably never wear again.

All you have to do is put a storage bag at the back of your closet. Then anytime you get motivated to do a closet cleanout or get frustrated while getting dressed, just put the questionable clothes in the bag, temporarily.

Then just go about your life for the next month or so and see if you need or want any of these items. If you pull something out of the bag and it fits and you wear it, you get to keep it. But if months go by and you haven’t touched the garments in the bag, you’ll have to face the fact it’s time to get rid of them. And then you’ll have room in your wardrobe for new clothes!
