Make sure you've Googled them before you meet them!
No one ever wants to be in the situation where they show up for a date with someone they matched with on the apps, and they’re SHOCKED at who they end up sitting in front of. The good news? There’s a lot of information we can get right at our fingertips before we even leave for the date. Here’s what to do:
- An amateur background check – It doesn’t have to be extensive, but type a few keywords in Google about the person and see what comes up.
- Ask plenty of questions – It’s not a bad idea to chat for a few days before actually meeting the person… as exhausting as it can be.
- Have an excuse prepared if the date goes south – Keep someone on call or something so you can get out of the date if it sucks.
- Be extra sensitive if something seems off – If you got a weird feeling about the person, you probably don’t want to take your chances.
It’s sometimes hard to remember that we ARE meeting people that we found on the Internet, and we should be a little cautious. Stretch your Google muscles, and do your best Facebook stalking before you head out for drinks.
