Wedding traditions that are being tossed aside!

Alright, so we’re used to the typical weddings “rules”: you can’t sleep together the night before, he can’t see her before the “I do’s,” the bride wears a white dress that drags on the floor as she walks down the aisle…a bottle of red an a bottle of white on every table. NOT ANYMORE! It’s your wedding, so who says you can’t do things the way YOU want to.

Millennials are breaking the rules all over the place…and weddings are just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s a few ways we’re switching up the tempo at weddings:

  • Not seeing each other until the ceremony- Instead of waiting for your bride to walk down the aisle, just catch her as she’s getting her makeup ready for the ceremony.
  • Single-gender bridal and groom parties- If you’re a female and your bestie is a guy, why can’t he support you at the bridal shower? You guys grew together, so why should he have to turn up with your hubby instead because he’s a dude? They don’t even know each other like that.
  • Veils- Sorry but we’re more down with the flower crowns instead.
  • Matching bridesmaid dresses- If some people want to wear pink and others want to wear light purple,go for it!
  • Traditional registries- If you’d rather have everyone give money to go toward your mortgage instead, there’s nothing wrong with that. You’ve already got your typical housewarming stuff anyway.
  • Garter toss- Only 32% of millennials are still taking part of this tradition nowadays, according to a Brides survey.
  • Bouquet toss- We’re not on board with spending about $200-dollars just to give it to the most single person in the crowd. We’d rather have souvenirs to bring back home, so we can remember this amazing event.
  • Diamonds for the engagement ring- Diamonds aren’t every girl’s best friend. If she wants a sapphire, get the damn sapphire!!
