ELLEN DEGENERES: Crew "Distressed and Outraged" Over Their Treatment
Crew members on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show are "distressed and outraged" over their treatment during the pandemic, Varietyreports.
According to sources, the core stage crew haven't received any "written communication about the status of their working hours, pay, or inquiries about their mental and physical health from producers for over a month."
An insider adds that "higher-ups in production would occasionally answer phone calls but reveal little."
Adding insult to injury, the show recently hired of "an outside, non-union tech company to help DeGeneres tape remotely from her home in California."
When execs finally did communicate, they were reportedly told nearly all crew members would see a 60% reduction in pay, even though the show continues to air.
The insiders say they find this treatment to be inconsistent with Ellen’s message to her audiences: “be kind.”
A spokesperson for Warner Bros. acknowledged that communication could have been better.
