When kids go to draw themselves, itâs not always been easy for some of them to find a crayon that matches their skin. But thanks to Crayola, thatâs about to change. Theyâre coming out with a âColors of the Worldâ line featuring 24 new crayon colors that represent 40 global skin tones.
Crayola partnered with Victor Casale, CEO of MOB Beauty, to carefully create the shades that go from extra light to deepest, with rose, almond and golden undertones. He has more than 30 years experience creating foundation colors for global skin tones and was the chief chemist and managing director of R&D at MAC cosmetics. He says, âInclusivity should be accessible for all ages,â and adds that this collection âgives children a greater opportunity to accurately represent themselves.â
Each crayon in the collection comes wrapped in a gradient skin-tone label with the color name in English, Spanish and French. The names, including light golden, medium deep rose, and extra deep almond, are supposed to help kids choose the one that feels closest to their skin tone. The âColors of the Worldâ crayons arenât available just yet, but you can sign up on theirwebsiteto get an email when you can buy a box.
