FRIENDS: Reunion Special Taping This August
TheFriends TV reunion special is happening. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer were supposed to get together last month. The pandemic quashed those plans.
Friends producer Marta Kauffman said, ''We are hoping to be able to shoot in mid-to-late August. If there is no early second wave and the studio is open. We understand the protocols. We can still make a good show.”
They intend to have a studio audience. Yet restrictions have limited crowd capacity for shows taped before an audience. The infection rate must significantly drop in Los Angeles before a large crowd could witness a Friends reunion.
An HBO executive confirmed, “There’s value to having a big, raucous live audience. We didn’t want to do a web call. Six squares and people shooting from their kitchens and bedrooms.”
