Green Berets have their first female in their ranks!

The U.S. Army is welcoming the first woman to join the elite Green Berets. The National Guard soldier completed Special Forces training to earn the honor. Her name and biographical information is being withheld for security reasons.

As you might recall, the Pentagon opened up all combat jobs to women in 2016. The Green Berets was one of the last sections of the Army that had no women, until now. There are about 70-thousand women serving in the U.S. Army.

Before the graduation was official, Lt. Gen.Fran Beaudette, the Commanding General for U.S. Army Special Operations Command congratulated each soldier on their "ability to meet the baseline standards and competencies" of the regiment. In other words, this newest Green Beret didn’t have any corners cut for her.Congrats whomever you are!
