Right when you thought work couldn’t get any more boring, along came the work-from-home orders to show you just how wrong you were. Safe to say we could all use a nice break from the monotony of work right about now so here are a few tips on how to do just that.
- Workspace Transition. One of the perks from working at home is you can move your desk or office whenever you want. Mix things up by moving your computer around your place throughout the day. Working out of your kitchen instead of from your couch might not feel the same as a corner office promotion, but it might be enough to help you stop feeling trapped. If you’re strapped for space, little things like changing up your Zoom background or adding some plants to your desk might also give you a boost.
- Wellness Challenges.Break up your workday with some exercise. Workout inside with some free YouTube training vids or get outside and jog. Sitting still is only going to give you more time to think about how lame your job is. Find a way to get yourself moving that will bring you joy and make you forget about work for a while.
- Diverse Socializing Opportunities. If the only form of communication you’re engaging in right now is work emails, it’s no wonder you’re hating your gig. Make a point to talk to more people outside of work and to switch up how you’re doing it. Get your friends together for a Zoom hang, have a one-on-one heart-to-heart with a family member, text a coworker, get a pen pal… do whatever you have to do to keep in touch with people and stop yourself from falling into a communications rut.
