What Labor Day Day might look like!

Believe it or not, next weekend is Labor Day weekend. And while in past years that would mean half the office would be out on vacation, things are certainly looking a lot different this year. But that doesn’t mean nobody’s going away.

  • Earlier this year a Travelocity survey found that most families were either postponing a trip until Labor Day, or planning to take their first leisure trip over the holiday.
  • 75% of families are planning outdoor and adventure trips, while half are planning trips to a beach or lake.
  • Although it seems that some travelers aren’t making any plans, with Travelocity noting that there will likely be a lot of last minute vacation bookings.

So, where is everyone actually going?

  • Well, according to new research, popular beach trips include:
    • Myrtle Beach, Charleston and the Outer Banks in the Carolinas
    • Panama City, Key West and Pensacola in Florida
    • Orange Beach and Gulf Shores in Alabama
    • Ocean City, Virginia Beach and Cape Cod in the Northeast
  • Popular lake vacations include:
    • Big Bear Lake and Lake Tahoe in California
    • Traverse City, Michigan
  • And outdoor vacations include:
    • Estes Park in Colorado Springs,
    • The Ashville North Carolina Mountains
    • The Grand Canyon
    • Jackson Hole, Wyoming

  • Condos (up 540%)
  • Cabin (485%)
  • Cottage (425%)
  • Houseboat (270%)
  • Lodge (235%)

As for what folks plan to do on their vacations, some are looking to be active, while others simply want peace. Among the top searches:
