Decades of studies has shown that music eases a person’s anxiety. Swedish surgeons will play the radio to patients just to calm their nerves before an operation. A McGill University professor said, (quote) “People use music therapeutically all the time. A certain kind of music they’ll put on to get their day started or something else for exercise or to wind down.” (Medium)

Music can help block out negative emotions. A study by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) “found that 46 percent of people ages 18 to 24 experienced pandemic-related anxiety and stress.” They self-medicated by turning on the radio.
