We still have over a week to go before Halloween, and while most folks need to get past it before they even start thinking about the holidays, it seems there are plenty of people who are not only already in the Christmas spirit, but they ready for it to happen today.
A new LendingTree survey finds:
- 25% of Americans are already finished with their holiday shopping.
- That number goes up to 44% for parents with kids under 18.
- 49% of those with incomes of $100,000 or more have already completed their shopping for the holiday season.
- Most of those people finished their holiday shopping by the first week in October.
- But not everyone is so on top of things.
- 48% of people haven’t even started their holiday shopping.
- 28% have started but haven’t finished yet.
As for who is doing the early shopping:
- 50% of Gen X say they finished their holiday shopping by early October. The same is true for
- 23% of millennials
- 21% of Gen Z
- 7% of Baby Boomers
So when do most people actually do their shopping?
- Well, 33% say they actually buy holiday gifts throughout the year.
- 31% do most of their holiday shopping in the fall.
- 17% rely on Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales.
- 19% wait until the last minute.
- ONE MORE THING!ADeloittesurvey on holiday shopping finds the average household will spend $1,387 this holiday season, which is a 7% decrease from last year. They will spend, on average, $435 per household on non-gift purchases, as well as $260 per household on travel and socializing away from home and $487 on gifts and gift cards.
